Stokesia (Stoke's Aster)

Stoke’s Aster is a beautiful perennial from prairies in North America. It bears quite large, bright lavender, lilac to pink, rarely pure white flowers on short stalks above a basal leaf rosette. Stokesia is easily grown in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot.
Sow seeds flat in any rich, well drained soil and keep pots outside in a protected spot. Seeds require a prolonged cooling period prior to germination in late spring. Carefully transplant young plants to the final spot in the garden as soon as they are strong enough.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6.
