Salvia flava (Bicolored Chinese Sage)

70 (100)cm, Bicolored Chinese Sage is a most ornamental winterhardy perennial from Sichuan and Yunnan (China). In the garden trade it is hopelessly confused with Salvia bulleyana, which is a different species with pure blue flowers. We offer this utmost showy species under its correct name! It makes oval, hairy, bright green leaves and branching stalks with pale yellow upper petals and a contrasting violet lower lip. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. VI-VIII.
