Gladiolus permeabilis
35 (80)cm, makes mauve, pink to dark purple flowers on upright stems. Native of rocky soils from Caledon through South Africa and Zimbabwe. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Requires a good winter protection (i.e. dry mulch layer). Best grown in pots under frostfree conditions in a cool greenhouse or wintergarden with reduced watering and a winter minimum of some 5°C. VII-VIII.
