10 (20)cm ø, a species native to La Palma, El Hierro and la Gomera, where it shares similar habitats as Greenovia aurea, yet usually preferring more open locations in the lower zone of the pine-tree forest. Rosettes are usually some 10cm to 20cm in diameter, light yellowish green in full sun and finely white powered, if plants are grown in full sun. During their summer dormancy rosettes will close cup-like and are covered with beige-red, dry leaf sheaths. The flowers are larger than those in Greenovia aurea and young leaves are ciliated at their edges (use some magnifying glasses). Plants remain solitary and they will never form any offsets. Thus propagation is only possible by sowing seeds. Greenovia diplocycla botanically is a very diverse species with several forms and possible some varieties, so that further scientific work is required on their taxonomical status. For any rich, well drained substrate in a partially shaded (summer) to sunny (winter) spot. In winter water carefully and keep plants at a minimum of some 10°C. IV-VI.More Details »
