Helianthus annuus (Wild Sunflower)
170 (250)cm, Wild Sunflower is an annual species and parent to many garden hybrids and cultivars. The wild species is an elegant plant with an upright stems and several large, bright yellow petals surrounding a quite large brown disk. Native of south-western USA and Mexico. Either sow under glass in spring and transplant seedlings after the last freezing nights in early summer or sow directly into the ground in early summer. For any humus rich, well drained soil in full sun. VII-IX.
