Ipomoea alba (Moon Flower)
3 (10)m, Moon Flower is a showy tropical perennial climber with showy pure white flower trumpets which start to open in the evening and are rather flat like a full moon. The leaves are entire heart shaped or lobed. Native of open spots in woods from northern Argentina to Mexico and Florida (USA). For any humus rich, well drained soil in full sun throughout the year and a winter minimum of some 20°C. Alternatively grow as an annual. Sow in early spring under glass at some 20°C. Transplant to the garden after the last freezing nights from end of spring to early summer. VIII-IX.
