Phytolacca acinosa (Indian Poke)
150 (200)cm, Indian Poke is a medium sized and very showy member. It makes annual stalks with large, yellowish green leaves from a massive perennial rootstock. Several cone shaped, white inflorescences followed by decorative purple-black, glossy berries in summer. The stalks emerge in early spring. A heavy grower for virtually any rich, well drained soil in partial shade or full sun. V-VIII.
