Silene nocteolens
20cm, miniature perennial subalpine species from the Cañadas crater growing at up to 2.400m. Makes a dense cushion of strongly pubescent, narrow leaves in a basal rosette and upright stems with numerous small white to rose, upright hold flowers. For a rocky soil (e.g. crushed lava or pumice) in full sun. Water from beneath. Will endure slight freezing in autumn if leaves are sheltered from moisture. USDA Climate Zone 9. VII-IX.
