12cm, Hillside Violet is similar to the related Viola hirta (Hairy Violet), yet in contrast to the latter this perennials species has fragrant, pale blue flowers and finely pubescent sepals and a basal rosette of hairy, broadly oval to heart shaped leaves. From rocky, open sites from Central Europe through Northwestern Asia. Easily cultivated in a sunny to partially shaded spot and any rich, well drained soil. III-V.
