Paeonia veitchii ssp. woodwardii

30 (50)cm, this subspecies differs from normal Paeonia veitchii by its paler, slightly larger flowers and overall more compact growth habit with pale green, glossy leaves. This rarely seend subspecies makes up to 5 flowers per stalk and dense, rich flowering clumps in time. Easily grown in any humus rich, well drained soil in a partially shaded spot. V-VI.
