Brachychiton acerifolius (Illawarra Flame Tree)

3 (12)m, Illawarra Flame Tree is a deciduous tree with oval to broadly lobed, shiny leaves and large terminal lax racemes with hundreds of scarlet flowers before new leaves emerge. With age plants develop a caudex stem. Easily grown in containers in any rich, well drained substrate and a sunny spot. In winter keep plants in full sun and drier at a minimum of some 10°C.
