Ziziphus lotus (Jujube Date)

2 (5)m, Jujube Date is a deciduous tall shrub to small from the western Mediterranean region. It has small leathery oval leaves and small lemon-yellow flowers followed by cherry-sized fruits turning brownish-red with maturity. They have a sour sweet taste and can be eaten either fresh or dried. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. In colder regions give some good winter protection or cultivate in pots under frost free conditions with a winter minimum of some 5°C and reduced watering. V-VII.
