Ferocactus horridus

30 (100)cm, a fast growing species native of Mexico (northern Sinaloa to southern Sonora desert) with a round to elongated dark green body with a strong, recurving brownish-grey, large central spine. Yellowish flowers followed by lemon-yellow fruits. For any rich, well drained soil in full sun troughout the year. In winter keep completely dry at some 10°C. V-VII.
