Hippeastrum fragrantissimum (Fragrant White Amaryllis)

40 (60)cm, Fragrant White Amaryllis is an extremely rare Hippeastrum species from Bolivia, where it is known from a single location only and highly threatened by habitat loss due to deforestation and grazing livestock. Hippeastrum fragrantissimum has pure white, elongated trumpet shaped and fragrant flowers emerging just before or with the new leaves. It is easily grown in any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot and a minimum of some 15°C in winter, when watering should be reduced to a minimum during leafless dormancy. Seedlings are fast growing and under appropriate conditions they may reach flowering size after just three years. Extremely scarce material, very limited packages available only. IV- VI.
