Mulleins are usually growing as biennials, some species have a semiperennial to perennial habit and make some amazingly large inflorescences emerging from a large basal leaf rosette. All are suited for any dryish spot in full sun, excellent for the rock garden and very adoptable to various soil conditions. Sow dustlike seeds flat on any sandy or rocky soil. Do not cover seeds with soil, place pots in a sunny and protected spot outside and keep substrate always slightly moist from beneath. Transplant seedlings after their fourth real leaves. Seedlings will grow rapidly especially in autumn and winter. Very easy and showy plants. All are USDA Climate Zone 6. 50 seeds per package. |
