Scilla autumnalis (Autumn Flowering Scilla)

20cm, autumn flowering Scilla from rocky spots throughout the Mediterranean region. Makes large bulbs and grass like leaves. Small bright lilac blue flower spikes. A rarely cultivated, yet easy going Scilla for any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Populations in the western Mediterranean flower much earlier around the end of summer, whereas in the eastern Mediterranean these are mainly autumn flowering. VIII-IX/X-XI.
