Scrophularia racemosa (Madeira Figwort)

30 (70)cm, Madeira Figwort is a perennial with glabrous, slightly glossy foliage and loosely branching racemes with small, dark maroon flowers. Native of open spots in moist soils alongside water streams in south-central Madeira (Portugal). For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot throughout the year. In winter keep plants slightly drier at a minimum of some 10°C. VI-VII.
