Silphium perfoliatum (Cup Plant)

200 (350)cm, Cup Plant is a very showy, very tall herbaceous perennial with large leaves forming a cup around the stem to withhold rain and bright yellow flowers in terminal lose clusters. Native of rich soils in open woods, along side streams and moist meadows in east-central North America. Easily grown in a rich, well drained soil in a partially shaded to sunny spot. VII-IX.
