3 (5)m, Chilean Zabala Fruit is a rarely cultivated perennial, evergreen woody vine from montane woods in Chile. It has showy spikes of brownish-black flowers followed by fleshy, ovoid fruits which are edible and have a delicious, sweet taste. Plants require a climbing aid. For any humus rich, well drained soil in a protected and sunny spot. In colder regions better grow under frostfree conditions throughout the year in pots. Keep plants drier in winter at a minimum of some 5°C. VIII-X. |
