Hibiscus pedunculatus (Dainty Hibiscus)

30 (80)cm, Dainty Hibiscus is a semi perennial Hibiscus species from coastal forests in the Cape Province of South Africa. It is a fast growing ornamental plant with prostate to upright hold stems with for the size of the plant rather large, bright pink flowers on very long peduncles. Hibiscus pedunculatus is morphologically undistinguishable from Hibiscus geranioides which is a supposedly native of northern Australia. However, Hibiscus geranioides is an unresolved name, and it most likely represents Hibiscus pedunculatus which may have escaped from cultivation in Australia and became naturalized. For any rich, well drained substrate in a sunny spot. In winter reduce watering and keep plants at a minimum of some 20°C. Our seeds are from correctly identified, true to type, pink flowering Hibiscus pedunculatus. VII-IX.
