Delphinium requienii

180 (220)cm, impressively tall, hairy racemes with unreal looking, orchid-like brownish blue-purple flowers from a large basal leaf rosette. A biannual species native of southern France and Spain, easily grown in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Readily self-sows under good conditions. V-VII.
