20 (40)cm, Whipple's Beardtongue has showy dark burgundy to lilac (rarely white) flowers in dense terminal racemes above broadly lanceolate leaves. It is native of rocky sites in subalpine regions in western (USA). Easily cultivated in any rich, well drained, rather rocky soil in full sun. Excellent in the rock garden. VI-VII. |
