Hypericum (Mediterranean and North American St. John's Wort)

St. John's Worts from the Mediterranean and partly from North America are perennial, evergreen, woody shrubs in comparison to their rather small cousins from continental Europe. All have bright yellow flowers in dense racemes and suit as ornamental pot or container plants in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Keep plants frostfree at a minimum of some 10°C in winter and always sunny.
Sow dust like seeds flat on any rich, well drained soil in partial shade. Do not cover seeds and keep soil moist but not wet. Keep seedlings slightly drier, cooler and always sunny in winter.
