Opuntia (Fig Cactus)

Elephants-Ear or Fig Cacti are very resistant cactus species which virtually grow under any conditions in any well drained soil. Make large round to oval shoots with yellow to orange flowers followed by egg-shaped, edible fruits with a juicy fruit pulp. Keep drier in winter at a minimum of some 10°C in a preferably sunny spot.
Soak seeds for 24h in luke warm water, then sow at 20°C in any well drained soil in a sunny place.
All are USDA Climate Zone 11.
