2 (8)m, Madagascar Palm makes a most ornamental, strongly succulent, metallic green stem covered with ornamental, numerous spines topped by a crown of semiperennial, very long and narrow, grayish green leaves with a light pink midrib under sunny conditions. Mature specimens start to form lax branches with several pure white, strongly fragrant flowers. Easily grown in any rich, well drained, preferably stony soil in full sun throughout the year. Keep drier in winter at a minimum of some 12°C. If plants are kept absolutely dry in winter they enter dormancy and shed almost all leaves.
