2 (8)m, Madagascar Palm makes a most ornamental, strongly succulent, metallic green stem covered with ornamental, numerous spines topped by a crown of semiperennial, very long and narrow, grayish green leaves with a light pink midrib under sunny conditions. Mature specimens start to form lax branches with several pure white, strongly fragrant flowers. Easily grown in any rich, well drained, preferably stony soil in full sun throughout the year. Keep drier in winter at a minimum of some 12°C. If plants are kept absolutely dry in winter they enter dormancy and shed almost all leaves.

Makes quite large, black styrofoam like seeds. From a wild collection made in Jadra/Jiyé south of Beiruth, Lebanon and Golfo di Marinella on Sardinia, Italy. USDA Climate Zone 8. VII-VIII.

25 (35)cm, a probably undescribed new species, which has been mistaken for Pancratium maritimum (Mediterranean Sea Daffodil) in the past which does not occur on Fuerteventura. It is close to Pancratium canariense and mainly differs in making much broader (up to 5cm) bluish-green leaves and showy, pure white star-like flowers with a larger corona in comparison to most Pancratium canariense populations. Unlike Pancratium canariense which grows in rocky soils, this species occurs in sandy soils on Fuerteventura. For a sandy or rocky soil in a sunny spot throughout the year. A summer dormant and winter green species. In winter keep drier at a minimum of some 5°C. USDA Climate Zone 9/10. VII-VIII.
