Manilkara and Pouteria include several delicious fruit trees which are mostly native of Middle to South America. Besides that, many species are highly valued as well in the timber industry for their resistant, heavy wood. All will grow as tall woody shrubs to trees if planted in the garden. They will moderately grow as container plants and usually do not set fruits after flowering as a container plant, however their shiny, decorative foliage makes them worthwhile in cultivation. For a sunny position in any rich, well drained soil. Keep plants at a minimum of some 15°C in winter with reduced watering and in full sun.
