Nepeta (Canary Cat Mint)

Canary Nepeta or Teide Cat Mint is a strongly fragrant perennial with a woody rootstock. It makes showy, long dark violet blue flower spikes above densely white-haired, serrated leaves. It is endemic to subalpine regions growing in rock fissures on Tenerife and La Palma at between 2.000 - 2.300m and supposedly winter hardy in a sheltered and sunny spot in colder climates in any well drained, rather rocky soil.
Sow seeds thin on any well drained, rather rocky or sandy substrate. Only slightly cover seeds with soil. Keep pots in a sunny spot and water only irregularly from beneath.
All are USDA Climate Zone 7 unless otherwise stated.
