Madeira Ruscus or Madeira Butcher's Broom is an ornamental, rare evergreen with up to 40cm tall stalks with broad, blackish-green leaves and most decorative, bright red, large berries beneath after flowering. Native of few sites in the laurel forest of Madeira. Excellent pot plant for any humus rich, well drained soil in a partially shaded spot. Keep sunnier and drier at a minimum of some 5°C in winter. Sow large seeds in any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. After germination place pots in partial shade. Germination may take up to 6 months. All are USDA Climate Zone 10. 3 seeds per package. Legal note: All material descends from horticulturally propagated plants in Germany respectively Lebanon only. We do not sell any wild collected material and strictly refrain from offering such in order to protect several endangered specimens in habitat and to comply with national and international laws on the trade of protected plants and parts thereof, such as seeds. |
