Hyssopus (Ysop)

Hyssop (Ysop) is a monotypic genus. Attractive, bushy plant with numerous purplish-blue flowers, attracting bees and butterflies.
Sow flat in any soil in autumn to early summer in any well drained soil in full sun. Germination occurs at a minimum of some 15°C.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6.

40 (60)cm, Hyssop has dense, dark green, lanceolate leaves on woody perennial branches with numerous violet flowers at the beginning of summer. Young leaves have a bitter, minty flavor and are used in small quantities for salads, meat and soups. Used in pot-pouris as well. For any rich, well drained soil in a protected spot in full sun. VI-VII.
