Tamarindus indica (Tamarind)

4 (8)m, Tamarind is an evergreen small tree. A delicious, sweet sour brown fruit pulp is extracted from mature, dried fruits. The pulp is used in many Asian dishes and makes a delicious drink as well if mixed with water and some sugar. As a container plant it makes an elegant shrub with broadly feathered leaves and numerous racemes of small reddish yellow flowers on older specimens. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot throughout the year. In winter keep slightly drier and at a minimum of some 12°C. V-IX.
