Beaufortia (Beaufortia Bottlebrush)

Beaufortia Bottlebrushes is a small genus from Western Australia and closely related to Callistemon spp. (Bottlebrush). Most Beaufortia are small to medium sized woody shrubs with small, scale-like, leathery leaves tightly enclosing branches and lateral clusters of bright colored flowers. All are good pot or container plants for any fertile, humus-rich, slightly sandy to rocky, lime-free soil in a sunny spot throughout the year with a winter minimum of some 10°C and reduced watering.
Sow dustlike seeds flat on top of any rich, sandy soil at some 20°C. Do not cover seeds with soil. Keep pots always moist from beneath and sunny until germination starts, then keep soil drier.
All are of USDA climate zone 11.
