Beaufortia Bottlebrushes is a small genus from Western Australia and closely related to Callistemon spp. (Bottlebrush). Most Beaufortia are small to medium sized woody shrubs with small, scale-like, leathery leaves tightly enclosing branches and lateral clusters of bright colored flowers. All are good pot or container plants for any fertile, humus-rich, slightly sandy to rocky, lime-free soil in a sunny spot throughout the year with a winter minimum of some 10°C and reduced watering. Sow dustlike seeds flat on top of any rich, sandy soil at some 20°C. Do not cover seeds with soil. Keep pots always moist from beneath and sunny until germination starts, then keep soil drier. All are of USDA climate zone 11. 30 seeds per package. |
