Zinnia

Zinnia is a small genus with only some 20 annual to perennials species native from South-Western North America to South America with a focus in Mexico. The have showy, bright colored flowers above opposite leaves. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Excellent in the rock garden.
Sow seeds flat on any rich, well drained soil from autumn to mid spring. Keep pots in a protected spot outside. Carefully transplant young plants to the final spot in the garden as soon as they are strong enough.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6.
