Sambucus (Elderberry)

Elderberries are woody shrubs or herbaceous perennials with ornamental feathered leaves and white flower umbels which are followed by showy black or bright red fruits from summer to late summer. Easily grown in any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot.
Sow flat in any humus rich, well drained soil. Keep pots outside in a sunny, protected spot. Transplant as soon as seedlings are strng enough in spring before the new leaves emerge.All are USDA Climate Zone 6.
