African Rue is a herbaceous perennial from open sunny sites in desert-like areas from Western Asia to Noth India, rarely in the Mediterranean. It has fine, bluish-green foliage and pale ivory white flowers followed by capsules with brownish-black, bitter and poisonous seeds. Traditionally seeds are used in Turkey, the Middle East and Western Asia for their hallucinogic properties. For any rich, very well drained soil in full sun. Sow seeds flat in any rich, well drained soil and keep pots outside in a protected spot. Carefully transplant young plants to the final spot in the garden as soon as they are strong enough. All are USDA Climate Zone 7. 20 seeds per package. |
