Dutchman's Pipes produce semi-erect to creeping annual stems from perennial fleshy roots. All have unusual, pipe-like flowers. For any well drained, humus-rich soil in partial shade to full sun. Some Mediterranean dwarf species are not reliably winter hardy in Central Europe and should be kept frostfree and in a sunny spot in winter (e.g. in a cool wintergarden). Sow flat in any rich, well drained soil in mid spring. Keep pots outside in a sunny and protected spot. Transplant dormant rhizomes in autumn. Note: All parts are poisonous if ingested !
