Scoliopus (Slinkpods)

Slinkpods belong to a small, rather rarely cultivated genus made up of only two species (Scoliopus bigelovii and Scoliopus hallii), which are native to moist woodlands in North America (Oregon and California) and far relatives of Trillium. They make nice brownish-black spotted, shiny dark green leaves. Flower stalks have recurved yellow flowers with brown spots and appear in early spring. Excellent dwarf plants for any humus rich, always slightly moist soil in a partially shaded to shaded spot.
Sow flat in any humus-rich, peaty soil in autumn to spring in a protected spot. Keep soil always slightly moist. Grow in pots for at least two years, transplant rhizomes after foliage has withered in summer.
All are USDA Climate Zone 7.
