Pomegranate is a large deciduous woody shrub to small tree with elegant, shiny, bright green foliage on slender branches. Its bright scarlet flowers in summer are followed by large yellowish-red fruits with a delicious, healthy pulp, which is widely used for preparing juices, jellies and in fruits salads. Excellent in any well drained, humus rich soil in a sunny spot, either in the open garden or as a container plant in a cool wintergarden or greenhouse. Younger plants should preferably be grown under frostfree conditions at some 5°C in winter in a sunny spot with reduced watering until they reach some 30cm/1 foot in height before planting out in late spring in a protected, sunny spot. Sow flat in any well drained, humus rich soil in a sunny spot at 20-25°C. All are USDA Climate Zone 7 (with some winter protection USDA Climate Zone 6). 20 seeds per package. |
