Tansy Asters belong to a small genus of annuals or perennials from western North America. Several species have a good ornamental value for their nice lavender blue to lilac flowers above finely cut foliage. All Machaeranthera species are easily grown in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. Annual and biannual members will readily self sow under appropriate conditions. Sow seeds flat in any rich, well drained soil and keep pots outside in a protected spot. Seeds require a prolonged cooling period prior to germination in late spring. Carefully transplant young plants to the final spot in the garden as soon as they are strong enough. All are USDA Climate Zone 6. 20 seeds per package. |
