Backhousia (Lemon Scented Myrtle) & Baeckea (Camphor Myrtle)

Lemon Scented Myrtle and Camphor Myrtle are both small to medium large genera native of mostly Australia, some Baeckeae species are found in New Caledonia, whereas only a single species is endemic to South East Asia. They are either small to medium-sized woody shrubs or tall trees with nicely aromatic foliage and small axillary white or rose flowers produced in abundance. All are easily cultivated as pot or container plants in any fertile, humus-rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot throughout the year. In winter plants shall be kept drier at a minimum of some 15°C.
Sow seeds, respectively the entire seed capsules flat in any humus-rich, slightly sandy, well drained substrate at some 20°C. Germination in both genera is irregular. After germination keep pots slightly drier and especially in winter in full sun.
