Veratrum (Germer)

Veratrum are from mountainous areas in Europe and North America are excellent solitary plants. Perennial rootstock forms dense clumps with age. Large flowering spikes with thousand of usually yellowish-white to greenish-white star-like flowers. For a rich, well drained soil in full sun to shade, very adoptable.
Sow flat in any well drained, good soil. Keep pots in a partially shaded place from late autumn to early spring. Transplant rhizomes when leaves start to yellow in late autumn.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6.
