Ixiolirion (Mountain Lily)

Mountain Lilies are elegant dwarf bulbous plants from steppes from the eastern Mediterranean region to Central Asia. The genus Ixiolirion is close to its American relative Brodiaea. All species develop glaucous leaves and spikes of 5 to 10 trumpet-like flowers. Bulbs require a well drained soil and a sunny spot. Sow in late spring in any well drained soil. Preferably frost free pot cultivation for two years, transplant bulbs in autumn. Keep pots in a rain sheltered place in winter. All are USDA Climate Zone 6 unless otherwise specified. 20 seeds per package. |
