They have dark green, leathery leaves and utmost showy, bright colored red to violet-red terminal flower heads. All make good pot plants in any fertile, humus rich, slightly sandy to rocky, almost lime-free soil in a sunny spot throughout the year with a winter minimum of some 10°C and reduced watering.
Sow seeds flat in any humus rich, sandy soil at some 20°C. Cover seeds slightly with soil only. Keep pots always moist from beneath and sunny until germination starts, then keep soil drier.
All are of USDA climate zone 11.
