Rhodotypos (Jetberry Bush)

Jetberry Bush is a monotypic genus with a single deciduous species from eastern Asia (China). It makes medium tall, woody arching stems with fresh green, serrated leaves and ornamental snow white flowers followed by open capsules with 1 to 4 glossy brownish-black seeds. Easily grown in any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot.
Sow seeds in any rich, well drained soil and keep pots outside in a protected spot. Seeds require a prolonged cooling period prior to germination in late spring. Carefully transplant young plants to the final spot in the garden in autumn or spring.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6.
