Iris foetidissima

30cm, an evergreen species from open spots in woodlands and cliffs from Western Europe to Greece and North Africa. It makes shiny green leaves and pale brownish-violet flowers followed by most ornamental bright orange berries from late summer to autumn. Easily grown in any rich, well drained soil in a partially shaded to sunny spot. IV-V.
