160 (200)cm, White Texas Star Hibiscus or White Rose Mallow is an utmost beautiful, rarely naturally ocurring white flowering form from the Scarlet Hibiscus. It is perennial herbaceous shrub from wet areas in southern USA (Georgia, and Alabama to central Florida). It makes tall annual stalks with very large, tropical looking, pure white flowers above palmately-divided leaves. As in the related Swamp Mallow (Hibiscus moscheutos) the stalks die back in winter and re-sprout in following spring. For any very humus rich, always slightly moist soil in full sun. During winter stop watering and preferably cover the dormant rootstock with a mulch-layer to give some additional protection from freezing through. VII-IX. |
