Hoffmannseggia repens (Creeping Rushpea)

70 (120)cm, Creeping Rushpea or Creeping Nicker (syn. Caesalpinia repens) is a local endemic from the Colorado plateau in southeastern Utah, USA, where it occurs in open, dry spots. Hoffmannseggia repens is an evergreen to deciduous dwarf shrub with trailing stems and very ornamentally feathered, bluish-green leaves and showy terminal clusters of strongly perfumed yellow flowers with an orange spot on the upper petal. For any rich, very well drained soil in a sunny spot throughout the year. Carefully water in winter and keep plants at a minimum of some 10°C. Seeds from certified wild collections in Emery County, Utah, USA at some 1.500 m.
