Hylomecon (Wood Poppy) & Stylophorum (Celandine Poppy)

Wood Poppies (Hylomecon spp.) and Celandine Poppies (Stylophorum spp.) are small genera with only few species each in China (Stylophorum lasiocarpum and Stylophorum sutchuenense) and Japan (Hylomecon japonica). Most species grow in humus rich, slightly moist soils in open spots in woods, Hylomecon and Stylophorum are herbaceous perennials with light green, lobed to divided leaves and showy bright sun yellow flowers in spring. All are easily cultivated in any humus rich, well drained, always slightly moist soil in a preferably partially shaded spot.
Sow seeds flat on any humus rich, very well drained, slightly moist soil. Keep pots in a partially shaded, protected spot outside.
All are USDA Climate Zone 6.
20 seeds per package (Hylocemon spp. and Stylophorum spp.), respectively 50 seeds per package (Stylomecon heterophyllum).
