Orange Desert Mallow or Globe Mallows and Bush Mallows are semi-woody perennial from rocky dryish sites in southwestern USA. Most desert mallows have basally branching, tall upright racemes which are densely covered with showy cup-shaped orange to red or rose-lilac flowers above greyish-green, smoothly haired leaves. Easily cultivated in any rich, well drained, slightly rock or sandy soil in a sunny spot. Sow fine seeds flat in any rich, very well drained, preferably rocky soil. Keep pots in full sun in a protected spot outside. Transplant as soon as seedlings are strong enough. All are USDA Climate Zone 6. 20 seeds per package. |
