Passiflora (Passion Fruits)

Passionflowers and edible Passionfruits. All species can be easily grown in any humus-rich, well drained soil with sufficient moisture in summer. Plants require a climbing aid as these are growing as wines. If planted freely these will develop their first flowers after 3 to 4 years and may set fruits. They require a warm cultivation throughout the year, except Passiflora antioquensis and Passiflora mollissima which will tolerate a minimum of some 7°C in winter. Passiflora incarnata is hardy in Central Europe with a thick mulch layer as additional frost protection.
Sow in any well drained, rich soil in a sunny spot at minimum 20°C, the highland species (Passiflora antioquensis and Passiflora mollissima) require a cooler germination temperature of some 15°C to a maximum of some 20°C.
20 seeds per package, if not stated differently.
